• Perogies are dough pockets filled with a combination of potato, cheese, sauerkraut, bacon or cottage cheese. Ukrainian perogies are boiled and often served with onions and sour cream. Mmmmm.

• Holubtsi are Ukrainian cabbage rolls. The filling is mainly rice & onion with a small amount of beef or bacon. Cabbage leaves are steamed to make them soft and then the filling is added. They can be purchased with or without tomato sauce.

• Borsch is Ukrainian beet soup. Served with thick slabs of homemade bread this is a hearty meal.

• Nalysnyky are the Ukrainian version of crepes. Actually, crepes are the French version of nalysnyky.

• Koubasa is smoked Ukrainian ham garlic sausage.
